Amir was a member of planning committee to create a consensus conference in advance of Child & Youth Mental Health Day, that was held at Vancouver’s Coastal Plaza Hotel & Suites on May 2-3, 2014. Additionally Amir was member of IT Committee and a moderator at the consensus conference.

Amir engaged his community by creating, hosting, and moderating lively topics from 2012-2014 at SFU’s Philosopher Café. Relevant, significant, and controversial topics were selected to bring in participants to engage in conversation. These Philosopher Cafés enabled individuals from a different perspectives to engage in a respectful, dynamic, and constructive conversation and see see each other’s perspective.

Amir joined Inclusive Technologies Co-op (ITC) as a founding board member in 2011 and remained as a director until 2013. ITC’s mission is to provide quality products, services, and information at the lowest reasonable price in a respectful, informative, and inclusive manner. ITC is a member-owned co-operative committed to leadership in social and environmental accessibility for all. Amir contributed to creating strategic planning, performed research on various start up potentials and assembled a team of students to inform people with disability about technology options.
